Blog Responses
I have learned a lot from the blog responses this week. I saw friends who like elephants as much as I do. In the literature they collected, I learned a lot about elephants. For example, an elephant uses its nose to count and its sense of smell. This again makes me think that elephants are a very amazing animal. They are smart.
Twitter Updates
In Twitter, I continue to pay attention to the impact of COVID-19 on animals. In a tweet, in terms of wildlife, poaching has been increasing, especially for endangered species. Therefore, COVID-19 is affecting the overall safety of wildlife. Due to poor economic conditions, law enforcement personnel have been reduced, because many police officers have been fired or reduced working hours. The number of park rangers and law enforcement officers patrolling the nature reserve is decreasing, and poachers roam freely. More and more poachers ignore the laws of social distance and tend to hunt animals. As there are fewer and fewer tourists exploring the wildlife sanctuary, poachers need not be so careful about their illegal behavior. On the contrary, they can conduct poaching without fear of being arrested. This has led to a significant increase in the number of deaths of wild cats and other endangered species during the coronavirus infection. Although it may not be the virus that killed the animal, the environment it created caused the animal's death. Poachers will continue to kill until enough law enforcement officers return.
